Getting started with Yottamine Predictive Web Services is very straightforward. Very quickly you will be able to get up and going, using YottamineR to connect with Yottamine Predictive Web Services to build large scale model with enormous computing power from the cloud.
The following are detailed instructions for setting up and using Yottamine Predictive Services, using these easy steps:
- Register at Yottamine Predictive Web Services.
- Install or prepare existing R programming tools
- Download YottamineR Client programming package
- Run and explore supplied sample R scripts
Step 1: Register with Yottamine Predictive Services
Step 2: Setup/Check R Programming Environment
You will use the popular R programming language and environment, running on a desktop or laptop computer to interact with the YPS services. To do R programming with YPS, you will need these three components:
- R Language Runtime (Download version 3.0.2 32/64 bit)
- RStudio IDE (Download for Windows XP/Vista/7)
- Java SE Runtime (Not required if you already have Java Runtime v1.6 or higher installed, otherwise download here)
Linux and Mac: Download the components.
RStudio is a popular open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for R. It is recommended but not required for YottamineR. You may also use the R language command line interface, if you prefer. If you use a different R programming environment, please contact email@example.com and we will work with you to try and accommodate your preferred programming software.
Step 3: Download YottamineR®
Now that you have set up your R environment, the next step is to download YottamineR, a code package that you will use in conjunction with the R tools above to build, test and score new predictive models. To download this package simply login to your Yottamine Predictive Web Service account at www.yps.yottamine.com and click on the download button.
For detailed instructions for downloading and installing YottamineR, please see Getting Started with YottamineR.
For Mac user, please see Readme.txt.
Step 4: Run Sample R Scripts
You are now ready to use Yottamine Predictive Services.
You should start by running the sample R scripts included with YottamineR. From the File dropdown menu in RStudio, select ‘Open File’ and open one of files in the default directory C:\yps-client\R\data\YottamineR\doc\samples, or in any alternate directory that you specified during installation.
To run the sample scripts, you will need to edit them to include your particular AWS credentials and the bucket name for data storage in S3.
You can find short videos demonstrating the use or YottamineR for building, scoring and plotting predictive models (plus other demos and tutorials) here.
